Thanks for the good selection of China jokes! One I always enjoyed, back from the late 1980’s, a while before 1989, when the hit pop song “Go with Your Feelings” (Genzhe ganjue zou) was topping the charts, and questions of China’s economic future seemed so amorphous, and everyone was talking about finding a “3rd way” between capitalism and communism….
“Deng Xiaoping, Huaguofeng and Mao are riding in a donkey cart. The cart driver stops at a fork in the road and turns around and asks “which way should I go?” Deng turns to Hua, then Hua turns to Mao, all aking which way to go. Mao thinks about it, then, of course, sings “Genzhe ganjue zou!”

BTW, there’s a fine selection of China jokes, including some good notes on why some are funnier than others, at: www.chinesepod.com/lessons/dumb-joke. If you haven’t already found it, Chinesepod is a great way to strengthen, brush up on, or even get started with your Chinese, all in quick bite-size lessons downloadable on your iPod.
